Fall is right around the corner, September 22nd to be exact, and of course that means time to transition the wardrobe. Fall is probably my favorite season because the weather is cooling down and who doesn’t love layering pieces and upgrading the closet a little. Light sweaters, cardigans, booties, bombers, and outerwear are already on my shopping list this month. Any reason to wear dark neutral colors is enough for me to get excited. I came up with 3 easy steps on how I plan to transition my wardrobe for the upcoming season.
LAYER
Houston heat is no joke and because of this my everyday wardrobe outside of work for summer consist of shorts, thank tops, maxi dresses, and a lot of open toe shoes. Summer wardrobe is easy because not much thought has to go into it. Fall is another story. The weather is still warm in the beginning but as the season progresses, the weathers begins the drop little by little. Adding a cute little cardigan on top of your tank top or maxi is all you need to do.
ALWAYS SEARCH THE BACK OF THE CLOSET FOR THE FORGETTABLES
I don’t know how many times I reached in the back of my closet and forgot I had something I could have been wearing. Ouf of sight out of mind I guess. I typically keep all my fall and winters clothes in a bin sealed tight and my heavy coats in the back of the closet to keep from getting wrinkled but sometimes I forget what I have or don’t see it unitl its too late. I’m not making that mistake this year. I already began to pull out my favorite fall go-to pieces and hung them up in clear site.
FIND OUT WHAT YOU NEED AND DON’T NEED
Before fall shopping, I always see what my wardrobe consist mostly of and what I don’t need. My wardrobe has always consisted mostly of tops and stylish layering pieces but never enough bottoms therefore pants will be my main focus this year. It’s espeically important to see what still fits as well. The worst thing to do is to be excited to put on your favorite item that you’ve been waiting wear all year and it doesn’t fit.
Doing these three tips will guarantee that you will be buying exactly what you need for the upcoming season and not wasting any money. Have a very fashionable Fall!!
Great article on making the most of your wardrobe. It’s good to take inventory at the beginning of the season. I have pieces in my closet that I don’t wear simply because I don’t have the right pieces to complete the look. I love to shop at online boutiques to find unique pieces.
Your suggestion about finding out what I need and don’t need is spot-on considering how much of my clothes don’t get worn again after using them once. Fall has been the season I am most lost when it comes to fashion as I find it tricky to find the right pieces for layering. It also tends to be quite busy during that season so I would probably just opt to shop at online fashion clothing boutiques.
